St Peter's Church
Darby End
WELCOME!
St Peter's Church Darby End, is often referred to as "the hidden gem", a place "I drive past, but never realised how beautiful it is", "I didn't realise it was here"... we are, as people say, a beautiful, small church situated in Darby End, right on the canal, and near the Bumble Hole nature reserve. The interior of our church is simple and non-fussy, focusing the eye towards the place where we meet our Lord in Holy Communion.
Our worship is more of the Anglo-Catholic tradition, at 9am each Sunday morning. We receive Holy Communion 3 Sunday's a month, and have a talented organist, who leads us in our worship each week.
About Us
The church was planted in the Day School, and then rebuilt between 1910 and 1913 as a mission plant being supported by curates from St Andrews and St Edmunds.
We welcome everyone to our services, but understand that if you are not familiar with church, then it may be hard to understand what is going on. Don’t worry! we have all been there, wondering if we should be standing or sitting at some point I can assure you (I still do and I'm the priest).
The hardest step is coming through the doors, and we understand that.
If you would like to come and sit alone and just watch the service, that is fine. If you would like someone to sit with you, please speak to one of the wardens who will be glad to help.
We have a lovely Church Hall with stage which is used throughout the week by various groups, from dance troupes, to friendship groups, from Rainbow/Brownie and Guides, to Dudley Little Theatre Company, from baby and toddler groups, to birthday parties, and even the occasional fayre.
