St John's Church
Dudley Wood
WELCOME!
At St John's Church Dudley Wood, we embrace all people, young or old, able or not, as beautifully created in God’s image and who seek to be more like Jesus in our worship and devotion each day.
If you are looking for a church, need somewhere to find peace, or just want to know more about God, we welcome you.
If you who have much faith, and you who would like to have more; you who have been to communion often, and you who have not been for a long time;
you who have tried to follow Jesus, and you who have failed.
You are all welcome here.

About Us
St John's is a church - a community of people - of many different generations. Our oldest is 92 and youngest just a year with many in between. I may be biased but I would say that we are a very welcoming church and very relaxed about children and babies making lots of noise!
Each one of us holds different views on faith and life but we are part of the church because we hold the faith that Jesus Christ died for us and rose again to bring us new life, and that we can live that new life because God's Holy Spirit leads us and guides us.
We come together during the week for different events but mainly on a Sunday to worship Jesus Christ at 11am. We offer Him our thanks for all that is good and we offer our prayers for those who need his help. We learn about our faith through the Bible and we remember his death on the cross through Holy Communion 3 times a month.
Because we are individuals we all prefer different styles of worship that make life more meaningful and so we offer different types of services at St John's. Some are very suitable for young families and others who like noise, other services.
Children at St John's
At St John's Church we encourage children to have an active place in the church. On Sunday mornings we have Junior Church which provides a good quality programme of teaching materials led by experienced and dedicated teachers. These activities begin at 10.45am for all ages!
Every 5th Sunday we join together in an All Age Forge Group Service, at 11am. Here the children and young people take an active part in the service - reading from the Bible, leading the prayers, acting a sketch or singing songs.
In the church we also have a children's corner where very young children can play safely during the service. We also have activity bags for babies and young children who want to sit with their parents during the service.
Those who come to Junior Church can also come to Adventure Club on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm. At Adventure Club there are games, craft activities and a tuck shop
A large feature of being in Junior Church is taking part in the annual pantomime (although its not compulsory!). Rehearsals begin in October and the performances are during half term in February. We have three performances to full audiences.
Our Groups
Allotment
An Allotments Committee was set up in 2007, comprising members of the PCC together with allotment holders. Anyone who wants to apply for an allotment needs to seek the advice of the committee
Girlguiding UK
Our Rainbow, Brownie and Guide Units meet weekly in the church hall, and support the church through fundraising activities and supporting us at our Fayres
Home Communion
We have a small, dedicated team who seek to bring Holy Communion to the homes of those who are no longer able to join us at our regular weekly worship.
Mothers Union
The Mothers Union, has joined with Netherton's, and meets in the Old Swan Netherton on the first Monday of the month at 11:30am.
Graveyard Search
We have a small graveyard to the rear of the church.
If you are looking for someone in particular, we should be able to help, but do please remember that the records are all paper based and a search by hand required.
There is a fee set by the national church per search, and we cannot guarantee we will find what you are looking for, but we will try our best. Please contact us to discuss further.

Online Giving
Whilst we have been successful as a church in growing our congregation and our giving, we are facing a 450% increase in our utilities, to put that in context, we going from £3k to £15k in the next year.
The best way is to give is via Bank Transfer or the Parish Giving Scheme, but we understand that, that can often be outside peoples comfort zone, which is why we have decided to use 'give a little', a company who support charities making payments via contactless and websites.
We lose a small amount in the transaction, but consider it worthwhile to remove the need to handle cash.
If you are a UK tax payer, please Gift Aid your donation, we can reclaim a further 25% from the HMRC
